Restaurants & Entertainment
While maintaining a small town feel, the California desert provides visitors with world-class menus from award-winning chefs. Cuisines available include American, California fusion, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, French, Greek, Mexican and just about any other type of food imaginable. Our 350 days of annual sunshine allows for more al fresco dining options then much larger cities, and our mountains, golf courses, swimming pools and palm tree lined streets offer dining views like no place else. As a major resort destination close to Hollywood, the California desert also features top quality entertainment.
Classy, tasty and sophisticated, Mr. Lyons Steakhouse has taken steak and created a New Classic giving it a modern update, with a menu that puts local small farms first. The grand dining room is pure old Hollywood glamour with a steak-centered menu boasting infinite sides and the kind of table side service that instantly transports you to a by gone era.Their Bar/lounge offers something a little more relaxed, where you can savor a true classic cocktail or something seasonal and new. It is actually reminiscent of a five star hotel lobby bar and lounge |

The original, and still operating Tonga Hut, is located in LA and has been open since 1958. It is a North Hollywood neighborhood bar that holds the distinction of being L.A.`s oldest Tiki bar still in operation. In 2014, Tonga Hut Palm Springs opened and brought the same classic tiki bar drinks such as the Mai Tai, Zombie, Tonga Punch, Blue Hawaiin and Nui Nui to the California desert. In addition, the restaurant features polynesian and Americanized chinese food such as poo poo platters, kalua pork and coconut shrimp. |

Located in the back of Fisherman`s Market & Grill in downtown Palm Springs is a different type of desert dive that makes you feel like you are in a California beach town and not the California desert. Shanghai Reds features great food (specializing in seafood), a casual bar and live music during the weekends on their Open-air stage and dance floor. Oyster`s on the half shell, Bacon wrapped shrimp, clams casino, oysters Rockefeller are just a few of their delicious offerings. But it is their fish tacos that are what Shanghai Reds is known for. You must have the fish tacos...seriously. |

Oscar`s Cafe & Bar is one of the best venues in Palm Springs for dinner and a show; Casual bar, spacious courtyard, showroom, dining and live entertainment are all available at Oscar`s. Enjoy dinner and meet new friends on the beautiful patio in the heart of downtown. Oscar`s is walking distance from the Palm Springs Art Museum, the Spa Casino and the shops on Palm Canyon Drive.
Their Cabaret Showroom features World Class Female & Celebrity Impersonation and Sizzling Seniors on Saturdays, and perhaps the biggest outdoor Sunday Disco Dance on the west coast.

In my opinion, some of the best, and most unique, homemade sandwiches you`ll find in Palm Springs. But its the gourmet grocery market that will blow your mind with fine foods & provisions you won`t find anywhere else in the desert. On The Mark is the place to go for gourmet wine, beer, cheese and breads. In addition, the marketplace has olives, mustards, salsas, chips, crackers, flavored oils and vinegars, nitrate free meats, gift baskets, salads, wines, pastries, chocolates and much more. Party platters and store to vacation rental catering is also available. On the Mark is located on Palm Canyon Drive in the Uptown Design District so grab some lunch and peruse the adjacent stores and galleries. |

This is one of my favorite Palm Springs restaurants and bars for happy hour. It`s off the beaten path yet close to most everything. Paul Bar / Food is located in an inconspicuous (And that`s putting it kindly) strip mall by Escena Golf Club. It`s American bar/comfort food at its best. From a classic wedge salad, chicken wings, Steak Frites to one of the best Italian meatballs around, you`ll fill up while downing classic cocktails. Black Manhattan, Frozen Sidecar, Cosmo and more plus a large wine and beer selection are all at Paul`s. |

Pictured is the Chunky Beef Stroganoff that I had for dinner last night at John Henry`s Cafe. Don`t let the name fool you. This is more than a cafe. It`s one of Palm Springs`s finest dining establishments featuring food you don`t often find in today`s modern fare trendy restaurants. This place has been a favorite of Palm Springs locals and in-the-know visitors for over thirty years. It was built on the simple notion that good food and good service could be had at a good price. Osso Bucco, Roast Rack of Lamb, Sautwed Veel`s Liver, Veal Scaloppini, Breaded Pork Chops and more old fashioned favorites are all available in a casual and yet elegant environment. The service is excellent, the wine selection ample and the desserts are tempting. I highly recommend John Henry`s Cafe. It`s known as Palm Springs`s best kept secret. I`m delighted to reveal this secret to all Dry Heat Resort guests. |

Serving Palm Spring’s only true New York style water boiled bagels, Townie Bagels is a local`s favorite for breakfast and brunch. Bagels, along with other breads including sourdough, baguettes, rye and focaccia, are baked fresh daily. Their cream cheese selection includes red pepper hummus, peanut butter, maple, strawberry and more. I`m partial to the chive cream cheese. It`s one of the best I`ve had. Their signature bagel sandwiches made with egg, cheese, bacon and sausage are delicious, and customers can even build their own. I recommend capers, tomato and onion. Coffee, espresso drinks and even cold brew round out their delicious morning menu. Delivery of bagels and bagel sandwiches to your Palm Springs vacation home is also available with advance notice. Please order a few days in advance for larger orders. |

The elegant and spacious lounge designed with crisp white decor featuring the back-lit onyx bar makes a dramatic statement evoking a chic and swanky atmosphere. The lounge comprises furnishings that offer maximum comfort to entice guests to linger. The comfortable bar stools and white patent leather Louis XIV ghost chairs complete the EIGHT4NINE’s crisp interior. And the food is pretty darn good too. Chic, trendy, cool, luxurious and an eclectic menu featuring a celebration of West Coast Modern American Cuisine which focuses on both presentation and flavors. |

This is an actual Chili, cheese onion omelette with hash browns that I ate at Rick`s Restaurant. It was good...really good. Look at the hash brown carefully. Notice how it is crispy on the outside? Trust me when I say it is delicate on the inside. They make the perfect hash browns. If you are looking for great diner food in the City of Palm Springs, Rick`s is the place (For beakfast, brunch and lunch at least). Enjoy numerous daily homemade soups, plentiful salads, a great selection of sandwiches, omelettes and much more. |

Workshop Kitchen + Bar is located in Palm Spring`s Uptown Design District in the Class 1 Historic El Paseo building built in 1926. The restaurant`s Industrial chic interior gives the historic space a contemporary edge befitting the locale. The food is based around seasonal products from local farms, so the menu changes often. Although "Americana" may best describe the style of the food, influences are many. Favorite techniques in the kitchen include our wood-fired pizza oven, wood-fired grill, and custom sous-vide station.
The bar looks mostly to American classics and carefully homemade basics. Original cocktails vary with the market`s availability and the bartender`s mood. Their signature drinks are intoxicating and you won`t find them anywhere else. |
